Using food delivery apps has become more popular. What food delivery app takes EBT in 2022? In this post, Hanfincal will answer the question and share information about which food you can buy with food stamps.
1. What Food Delivery App Takes EBT in 2022?
1.1. Amazon
SNAP benefits cover Amazon Fresh and Amazon Pantry. Moreover, you can save money on Amazon Prime if you own food stamps. However, you do not need this paid subscription service to receive free shipping or purchase a wide range of food items on Amazon. Besides, you are not allowed to buy non-food products such as furniture or electronics on Amazon.
You can also use your EBT card to buy various types of products online at Amazon. Here are some TASTY & CHEAP SNAP-eligible groceries with FREE delivery that we highly recommend for you.
1.2. BJ’s Wholesale
What delivery app takes EBT? The answer is BJ’s Wholesale Club. While this food delivery app takes EBT cards and receives SNAP benefits in-store through all states, online SNAP delivery ordering is only available in Rhode Island, North Carolina, New Hampshire, and Florida. Yet food stamps payment doesn’t cover the BJ’s Wholesale application.
Instead, you can make an online grocery delivery order via the Instacart app or on their website.

1.3. UberEats
UberEats does not receive SNAP benefits because it is just an intermediary between customers and establishments. UberEats doesn’t prepare food and brings orders directly from the customer.
In general, prepared food is an ineligible item that you can’t purchase with SNAP benefits; however, there are some exceptions to the regulations.
UberEats does not take SNAP (food program for low-income families) because they do not want to deal with the hassle of setting it up and qualifying whether something is SNAP-eligible or limited from being bought using such benefits.
1.4. DoorDash
Even for minimally-prepared or non-prepared meals, DoorDash doesn’t receive SNAP benefits. They don’t want to apply for approval and don’t want the overhead of checking products on the platform because most items on DoorDash wouldn’t be qualified even if they took it. In addition, hot (prepared) food from restaurants isn’t allowed under the EBT program regulations.
1.5. PostMates
What delivery apps accept EBT? Unfortunately, Postmates doesn’t receive SNAP benefits, which is a shame because they mainly cater to the restaurants, and all their meals are cooked freshly (or prepared to order).
If Postmates became a USDA-approved retailer, they would accept EBT cards. However, there are many stages to overcome for this status, and it isn’t going to take place anytime soon.
1.6. Hungryroot
Unluckily, Hungryroot doesn’t take food stamps like other online grocery delivery such as Amazon, HEB, Walmart, etc. Because Hungryroot is a 100% online store, it doesn’t accept EBT cards like larger retailers with their physical stores where products are delivered.
1.7. Kroger
Kroger provides free curbside pickup for grocery items that cost $35 or more. Additionally, Kroger also takes SNAP benefits payments if you order online food. All you need to do is grab your groceries and select a time that you can pick up your orders.
1.8. Publix
What food delivery takes EBT? You are able to use Instacart to order products from Publix to be delivered to your home. In the year 2021, Publix took an EBT card as a valid payment when buying food online through Instacart. 1.9. ShopRite
ShopRite takes food stamps for both grocery curbside pickup and food delivery options. This is on the list of grocery stores that accept EBT. However, this program is only available at some ShopRite location stores such as Delaware, Maryland, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. Besides, you can buy grocery products through the Shoprite mobile application or the Shoprite.com website.

1.10. Safeway and Albertsons
At Safeway and Albertsons, you can use food stamps in 10 states and Washington DC for curbside pickup when ordering grocery items online. Instead of going into a store, you can shop online to save the amount of time. However, you can’t use food stamps to have your food order delivered.
2. What Food Items That You Can And Can Not Buy With EBT Cards Or SNAP
What can you buy with food stamps? You can go online to select an EBT food delivery service and have grocery products delivered to your door.
Here are some eligible things that you can purchase through EBT food delivery:
- Vegetables and fruits.
- Cereals and bread.
- Dairy foods.
- Snacks.
- Non-alcoholic drinks such as lemonades or juices.
- Plants and seeds.
- Fish, red meat, and poultry.
However, there are some limitations on ineligible foods that you can’t purchase with SNAP benefits, such as non-food components, medicines, vitamins, tobacco, hygiene items, household supplies, cosmetics, and alcoholic beverages.
What Food Delivery App Takes EBT in 2022? You can use SNAP benefits to have your order delivered via BJ’s Wholesale, Kroger, Amazon, ShopRite, and Publix. Other food delivery applications, such as DoorDash, Hungryroot, UberEats, etc., don’t accept food stamps payments. With this above knowledge, Hanfincal hopes you can save money and shop products through a food delivery app at an affordable price.
